About Me/Behind the Name

Like some of you, I dread writing about myself. Namely because I am horrible with grammar (you’ll see.) I originally started this blog years ago to share my travel experiences and hopefully inspire a few of you to take the trip that may or may not have been on your mind. As passionate as I was then, I had to postpone blogging to focus on other priorities.

Recently, I was asked, outside of my former full-time career, outside of my marriage and outside of motherhood, who am I? Quickly I thought, something that has been constant throughout the duration of my life is my love for adventure and cultural understanding. The short answer to that question, for now, would be a seeker. I seek to find answers and solutions in all that I do. I seek to enjoy life fully. I seek to see the world and to have deeper understanding. Travel has given me the best understanding of my world view. With each trip, new opinions are formed based on first hand experiences rather than assumptions from the comfort of my community.

I have been a nurse for nearly 12 years and I enjoy being a part of peoples healing journey. While I have decided to put my nursing career on hold for now, I desire to continue to help people heal, by encouraging them to book the trip, see the places, and experience the people. I think there is so much interpersonal growth to be had through travel, especially solo trips. Feel free to contact me for help booking your next travel experience.

The idea and concept behind The WanderDo Project, derived from my dad always inspiring me to travel, but not taking the steps to see the world for himself. I have early memories of him showing me pictures of Peru and more specifically Machu Picchu. He said he’d always wanted to go, but for one reason of another, he didn’t make that happen. As I started to travel across the United States and eventually internationally, I became familiar with the term “Wanderlust.” According to a quick google search, “Wanderlust,” is described as “a strong desire to travel.” A “strong desire” isn’t enough to propel our feet off the ground and carry us to the places we dream of. We must also “do.”

At the time of this epiphany, I could have easily made excuses such as inadequate time or insufficient funds, but I didn’t. I decided that it was up to me to see the world and that I would have to find solutions to the obstacles I presumed were in my way. Again, wanderlust is simply not enough, you must “WanderDo.” -And from there my passion project was born.

Maybe dreaming is enough for you, but if you’re like me, the idea of spending your life wishing and not doing, doesn’t seem like a good representation of the opportunities we are given.

I am full of gratitude as I start this journey to share as much travel inspiration as possible. Whether you are on a budget or not there are so many options available if you are willing to get creative.

Great read! I loved hearing about your backstory into traveling. Also, thank you for your service as nurse! I feel inspired to travel more even if it’s just locally.

    1. Hi Olivia! Thank you for taking the time to read my post 🙂
Yes, local travel can be so fun and provide new prospective on places we drive by often. I just recently did a little staycation an hr away from where we live. I felt so alive, reconnected with myself and creatively inspired! ❤️
